Rash Decisions

The bulbs from Eden Brothers arrived today. What was I thinking? What am I going to do with 300 bulbs? Seemed like a good idea at the time. Today I'll go to my sister's neighbor and take her a bag and start planting some at my sister's house; and remember that this weekend when I order dahlias from Swan Island Dahlias. I picked out several I like but maybe need to narrow that down a little because I'll be starting the bare root tubers in pots as their web site recommends.

Dahlias are beautiful and last summer was my first try with them and I was hooked. My grandmother always grew tall red ones on the side of the house in Georgia, just beautiful. The tall ones require stalking because some grow 3-5 feet. Although I stalked mine, I didn't keep close watch and instead of attaching them to the stake as they grew I loss track and they started to curl and grow low to the ground. Beside zinnias, they put on the best blooming floral summer display until frost, and I love blooms.

The hyacinths look like end of season bulbs but are still firm  and hopefully will be beautiful in the spring.

The web site said they're a mixture of tulips so each bloom will be a surprise.
I'm going to dig out some pots and plant some in containers for spring. It has to be done this weekend. The bulbs are firm and so far I've only picked out a few moldy ones but they need to be planted this weekend.
I've never ordered from them but the bulbs sucked me in. I also ordered these 2 daisy seeds and received a free pack of zinnias and a 10% discount on my next purchase with no expiration date listed. That's good as I know the only other thing I'd possibly ever order again are bulbs if these do well and prices are right in the fall.
