Zinnias

My first zinnia seedling. Not impressed but I'll take it because it's from seed. Our weather is brutal and humid like the tropics. Next week worse with temperatures to reach 100 degrees and a feel like temperature over that.

My first tiny patch of zinnias. Room for improvement next summer but I'm happy with them.

I miss the white snowball color.

The one little cosmos stays in bloom if deadheaded.

Nicotiana

Second zinnia to bloom is a little bit larger.

First tiny sunflower. I didn't plant dwarfs, but this one is.

The queen. On a 4-day visit to granny while mom is out of town. She thinks she's the queen. The castle can only have 1 queen and of course that's me.

Early Morning

Took some pictures this morning while waiting for my ride to a doctor's appointment. It's hot today. Temperature is 94 with humidity feels like 104. It's summer. It's nice to come out and see the flowers changing every day. I'll soke this up because next season, fall.

Wonder if the asters will repeat bloom if I dead head them again? This is their second bloom. Wish the blooms lasted longer.

Nothing can beat the blooms of zinnias. My seedings are starting to form heads, yeah. This is a store-bought zinnia.

One bloom and lots of berries for the birds on the native honeysuckle.

Deciding whether to deadhead and hope for more blooms or leave the seeds for the birds.

Blooms getting bigger every day.

So many blooms. It's doing well in a container.

Going to throw out that petunia eventually. I never do well with them. Prefer the mini bells.

Tiny changes every day for the zinnias. I think there's also one or 2 sunflowers.

First bud on a zinnia.

Sunflowers are starting to get taller and thicker. I'm happy with that.

The only surviving nicotiana seedling. It's late blooming but will stay in bloom until frost.

The downward facing lilies are beautiful.

Didn't know dichondra bloom. Maybe that small bloom will dry and give me some seeds for next year. I only need a few seeds.

Beautiful Weather

A break in the heat wave. The heat will return on Thursday just in time for July 4th.

Threw out some plants on the porch today. Beacon impatiens and New Guinea Impatiens due to disease. Waiting and hope I don't have to throw out my clematis vine. It's been a tough spring for annuals on the porch with spider mites and powdery mildew. I bought 2 gerbera daisies, lavender (really needs more sun), but I'll see how it does, and a miniature rose. Don't normally do well with miniature roses but couldn't resist the pale-yellow blooms and their scent.

Can't pass on some zinnias in the bouquets.

Bought a mum also for 3 dollars. When it's pass bloom, I'll get another one to keep some color on the porch.

I sat and enjoyed the weather. Have to enjoy it when it comes. July and August will be hot months.
