Before May Ends

The months are passing fast it seems. Almost June. As I previously mentioned we are in a drought and we've been having summer weather in spring. Today 92 degrees with a warm breeze. I spent the morning potting my tomato, 2 peppers, patio cucumber, and 7 elephant ears. Kind of late for the elephant ears but they'll come up. I also need to plant black eyed Susan roots, dahlias. Long over due some iris bulbs that may not do any thing this year. Every year I say the same thing. Don't buy it if you can't plant it in the right time. But unfortunately the spring plants win. It's time to pull my pansies and put in some annuals that will remain in my containers until fall, soon.

My Chicago fig needs a larger pot this season.

Cucumber, and peppers.

Wire vine and lemon scented pelargonium.

Pothos in need of tender loving care brought outside in the hope that it will thrive and look better before it's time to take it inside for winter.

Ric Rac Cactus also bought outside to see if some of the new growth would fill out over summer.

And maiden hair wire vine wasn't doing well in my bathroom window so I brought her on the sunporch.

Broke 2 blooms off my amaryllis by accident. It's supposed to be lemon colored but more white than anything.

Another waiting to open.

Sugar Rush patio cherry tomato and thyme.

I'll show you the view from above on another day.

Things still to be planted.

Double impatiens and white euphorbia. Would like to hang it up but it's too heavy. May tear up my ceiling.

My last one needs planting on another day.

Seedlings over due to be planted, nicotenia and coleus.

They have bugs and had aphids indoors. How can an aphid get indoors? In potting mix. Will never repot seedlings in potting mix but will return to seed starting mix this winter.

Decided to make use of the fallen twigs and use them for decorating my containers.

Alliums

Pansies in the shade are doing better than those in direct sun.

I have to take this coleus indoors this fall. You can't buy seeds for it yet or proprogate it.

Salvia Mealy Sage for the bees.

Not doing well at all. Dianthus dracula from Bloom Box. It didn't come looking like this. I'll have to do something before it's too late for it.

Bee Balm

My foxgloves are shorter this year for some reason. Normally they're about 4 feet tall.

Aster is slow getting started it's normally fuller by now. This year I remembered the support to keep it from flopping.

Planted 2 new foxglove seedlings. I winter sowed some in the yard without success. Going to start some seedlings indoors to plant out in the yard this fall.

About time to update the planter for summer.

Can't believe I can't remember the name. Each year it's growing taller and fuller.

Wild flower seeds sown last fall. Bachelors button hasn't opened and I don't know the name of the purple and white flowers. The wild flower seeds from Eden Brothers never fails and has no filler only seeds.

Baptisia, remembered the name. Also called false indigo.

Salvia

A pink blooming yarrow.

Native honey suckle.

The stick is last years native hibiscus and next to it is new growth. Thought it was dead but I've read it emerges late in spring.

Not pleased with these sidewalk planter. Maybe only a shrub should be in the planters or maybe I need to trim the roots of the shrub. Maybe in the fall.

The lambs ear in bloom.

Look at the clouds, more beautiful in person.

The broom shrub was beautiful in bloom and fragrant. Can't tell that by how it looks now.

What happened to my lambs ear? Heat normally doesn't bother it.

Waiting to be planted but not from Bloom Box.

Have to plant these mandevilla.

We'll catch up when I'm in the yard again.
