My Sister’s Front Garden

 

Foliage covered in powdery mildew but the pumpkins keep coming in my sister's front garden. This is the first year she's had pumpkins for a while. The last time she grew them they were huge in all shapes and sizes including some gourds. I wish I had the sun to grow them in my yard.

She gave me a few heads with seeds to plant for next summer for my daughter who loves a type she had not seen before. Hopefully they'll look like the parent plant.

I love the harvest with all it's vegetables, pumpkins, gourds, and flowers.

Gardening

 

It was a beautiful day to garden. Planted the mums I got yesterday. Didn't see gourds yet though in stores but plenty of pumpkins.

Late for powdery mildew but it's gotten the honeysuckle. Thought it would be the zinnias but not yet.

Finches are snacking on the sunflowers.

The container was supposed to have only pansies and one mum but, I didn't have the heart to get rid of all the vines. There's still time when the weather gets cooler.

It's a beautiful day.

Saturday

Visited the nursery and produce market today. Fall bulbs are out. I'm waiting for mine in the mail. Bought some soil today for the bulbs when they arrive.

It's early. My containers will probably get 2 different sets of mums. The ones not fully open should last a while. When blooms are past, I'll get one more set to last through November. Then It'll be time for Christmas containers.

 

September

Flowers of September. Time to celebrate my month of birth and the coming autumn.

 

This is the first time I've been in my yard since the 4th of July. I have one squash, yeah. Another one is rotting on the vine. I hope I get a least one but it's a long time until frost so maybe I'll get some more. The few vegetable containers I planted are survivors because they got no water or help from me.

No water until today. The impatiens look the same. Maybe next summer I'll paint the container. Grilling some ribs, chicken, and burgers today.

Watered them today.

Wish I didn't break the pepper stem. There were more blooms and those 2 peppers could have grown to full size. I had 2 other tomatoes but they had been there so long they were soft. I'll let them dry on the vine and save the seeds.
