Zinnias

It’s been a brutal summer. Ninety six today with a heat index of 107. My zinnias make me smile.

I removed petunias from this container. Too high maintenance and messy for me. Every day dried blooms dropped on the steps and they need to be deadheaded almost every day to keep them blooming. I'll stick with vinca next season.

Deadheading the asters have kept them in bloom since spring.

Sunflowers

Cosmos started blooming today.

Zinnias cut from a container. They were suffering from the heat with the leaves brown dried and spotted. I pulled them up.

Snap dragons have been in bloom since spring.

A Summer Day

Zinnia time

Pink marguerite daisy is hard to find and the seeds are supposedly sterile. I would love to have it again next season. I'll still save some seeds and may try taking cuttings. I don't want to bring insects in the house from them this winter.

Sunflowers

Started dead heading the daises but stopped and will leave them for the birds. If I don't see them being eaten, I'll dead head. The honey suckle has grow this summer.

Only 1 bloom on Annabelle this season.

Nicotiana

Yellow petunias replaced with vinca. The petunias were infested with white flies. Vinca has been less fussy for water and doesn't seem to mind the sun.

Love the balloon flowers but they require daily deadheading.

My stock seedling don't seem to mind the extreme heat.

Waiting for zinnia and cosmos to bloom. Snapdragon seedlings have been doing well.

Petunias may not be in the plan next season. They're too high maintenance although beautiful.

Volunteer sunflower
Black eye Susan's keep getting taller.
Hydrangea Paniculata

Veronica and a volunteer petunias.

The girls are doing good up there.

All fighting for space.
