Weather Changing

Squirrels waited until 2 strawberries were ripe and they got to them first. Maybe next year. They're starting to develop runners and I'll have to find another place for them. Maybe a long container. I should have one.

The sunflower seeds are being enjoyed by the golden finches and discovered by the squirrels who take whole heads off and sit on the side walk and eat. Didn't plan on that happening. I see fewer squirrels since the tree was cut down but they still found the sunflowers. They need to eat too and I love them but not some of their behaviors in the garden. Started doing a little fall planting. Two mums, a type of grass, and a coreopsis I believe moon bean which will come back next season.

My arborvitae in the container died. It'll be removed when I replant the container for fall. The heat got to it this summer although it was watered almost every day.

Glad that the asters are hanging on for fall. Deadheading them helped them bloom all season. The purple flower is my stock seedling. Since I now know that they survive the heat, I purchased more seeds for next season.

I welcome the cooler temperatures we have been having. Less watering plants maybe every 2 days depending on how they look and if we get rain not at all. Rain has been absent the past couple of week

It's almost the season for them. Purchased today from the produce market but no other fall flowers, pansies, pumpkins, or corn stalks yet. Lets see what they have out next week. After all, Monday is September and 22 days until fall.

Bought this begonia last weekend for some color indoors this winter. They were discounted and I regret not buying 2. If they still have some when I go back I'll get another one.

For my seed starting in the winter.

Liriope on top of the wood purchased to add outdoors when the zinnias and sunflowers have finished.

August

Deadheaded the daisies and I've got some new blooms.

Marguerite daisy with one small pink bloom. I wish they came back in my region but they don't.
I've read that the seeds are sterile but I still saved some to see if they germinate.

The look of summer containers. The African daisy is sad. I'll put some fall annuals in probably in September.

Strawberry and impatiens not planted by me.

Annabelle hydrangea.

Birds plucked off each petal and now have started to eat the seeds. After all the second reason I plant them is to feed the birds. Here's hoping a squirrel does not discover them.
