Decorating Outside for Christmas

This is my first time buying magnolia leaves. I usually pass because it's usually high for a couple of pieces. This was more reasonably pride so I got it.

My wreath did well in the yard while waiting to be hung.
A few days before December and the snapdragons are still blooming.

Bulbs planted last week. I still have more to plant before the soil freezes. But I've lifter frozen soil and planted before.

I have this small spot and the others will go into containers or in the ground in the yard.

Dried corn taken from the fall decorations before I threw it out. The squirrel immediately found it. Maybe they'll leave the bulbs alone.

Happy Thanksgiving

Lilies are one of my favorites and of course they smell wonderful.

My first fire of the season. Today there will only be 3 of us. I had a beautiful day and hope you did also.

Loose in the Garden center

Went shopping a week before Thanksgiving to get my decorations. First stop was Produce Junction in Glenside. Hope to put them up the weekend after Thanksgiving.

I put them in the yard to keep them hydrated since we are expecting some rain. Also sprayed them with Wilt Proof to prevent moisture loss and hopefully keep it nice and fresh until after the New Year.

A mini African violet and a small green foliage plant that looks like ivy. I should have asked what it was. Hopefully they are similar in water and light needs. The violet is from Primex Garden Center also in Glenside, Pa. Also purchased, seeds, some ornaments for my wreath, magnolia leaves for my outside container, food for the birds, and a beautiful house plant.

Two containers for Wayfair to plant 2 hydrangeas.I need to plant them before it snows.

Sadly when I went in the yard today I found the half eaten body of a female cardinal. I'm assuming that a hawk that I sometimes see in my yard got her. This is the first time this has happened in my yard. Makes me want to stop feeding the birds. I didn't feed them last year because of the bird flu, now look what happened. I was so sad and knew that I had to wrap what remained of her body and bury her. A prayer for her for her life and beauty. I put some bricks on top to keep critters from disturb the grave.

The first thing I noticed was lots of feathers, too many.

Orchids from the produce market.

My amaryllis has started to open up. I planted her maybe a month ago and the one below.

I brought 2 other amaryllis from the produce market very cheap. They are now in bloom. I'll show you them in another post.

Leaves

Two weeks ago I got around to the leaves in the yard. Although keeping leaves on the ground have their benefits, I chose to rake and bag them up for trash this season.

I want to prune this but I'll wait for spring. It provides shelter for the birds at the feeder from predators.

What were cucumbers. Harvested 3 cucumbers this season.

Parsley till going.

Today the impatiens have defoliated and ready to be pulled. Two weeks ago they were still in bloom.
