Heat Wave

The first day of the heat wave. I'll be watering the plants every morning. I hope.

On the porch. I've thrown out some plants that had powdery mildew and spider mites. Not thrilled with what's left. I have all summer until fall.

The fruit has been delicious. I also have strawberries, watermelon, blueberries, grapes, pineapple, apples, and oranges. I love summer fruits.

Had to give some of the blooms support. Rain last week knocked them down. I love hydrangea Annabelle.

Zinnias. I planted more but, this is what came up. I'll sow some more.

Pulled up the stock except two. I thought they only liked cool weather. I like them and find they're very hardy not fragile like I thought. I have my seeds to sow for them this winter. Think I'll start them earlier because they took a long time to bloom.

Love the dwarf pink bee balm although it only blooms once. Maybe I'll stick some nasturtium seeds this fill the spot after they bloom.

Baptisia has crowded out the lilies.

Sunflowers

I sowed packs of alyssum seeds, and this is the only plant that germinated including some in the cracks. I haven't given up. I'll try again.

The white picket boarders were in the basement. I had them here before but years ago. Not exactly how I want it, but it'll do.

Blooms are coming on hydrangea paniculate.

The last of the flowers on the honey suckle. It's now making lots of berries.

Stock still blooming.

Eventually the fence may be straight.

Morning watering. I have a hose but haven't used it in years. Drip irrigation would be wonderful but not likely to happen. Never say never. I have a watering can, but the jugs are lighter to handle. Yes, that's all the watering that I do, and the plants survive. No rain expected this week.

Sad looking sunflowers and some zinnias being eaten.
Going to plant them for fall.
