After the Rain

We had a rainy Memorial Day weekend but much needed since we were in a drought.

Autumn ferns having a hard time with the drastic changes in our weather in my region. I guess plants are confused. A three day heat wave in the 90's followed by dropping last week into the 50's and now in the 70's with a breeze and beautiful blue sky. Nasturtium starting to come up. I planted more than two. Maybe more will emerge.

Coleus starting to look better and develop new leaves. The first set of leaves were washed out by cool temperatures. I'm glad they made it.

Hydrangea Paniculata has no blooms on her yet the Annabelle hydrangea on the side is full of blooms. I did severely prune it and it came back so fuller. Think I'll prune the Paniculata in the fall also.

I didn't get to enjoy my foxgloves. Four days of rain beat off the blooms. I should start sowing more seeds indoors to plant out in the fall for next years blooms since they only bloom once then die.

Asters

Sorrel is hardy in my area and I hope it comes back. In the fall I'm going to cut it and try to find a recipe for it. Sorrel is an herb and I heard it taste like spinach.

My little meadow as my sister calls it is filling out. A snap dragon seedling and lots of corn flower. Sunflowers and zinnias are starting to germinate.

Those are stock seedings I grew at the bottom. Look like they will bloom soon.

I still haven't planted the sweet potatoes that cam from my ornamental sweet potato vine from last season.

Will plant these in my container soon.
