Critters Have to Eat

Corn is usually added to the stacks on the door. Why did they find it this year?

First they started with corn on the door. Then corn in the planter was gone one morning. They were small and light so they just ran away with it all.

Corn before. Critters don't seem to like the smaller pumpkins. I could be battling deer, chipmunks, ground hogs and rabbits. If I lived just a few streets closer to the Wissahickon I would be. When I was younger and lived in an apartment and my daughter a baby, I did live close by and took my daughter for many carriage rides to enjoy the woodland setting. She can't remember that of course.

Replaced by ribbons. Some bright color instead of the traditional burlap ribbon or orange. It's nice to have a change.
Then they started on this. Just like squirrels take a chunk out of it then leave it along. Maybe after it gets soft they'll devour it.

For my brother. They're the largest crocus I've had.

My pansies. Haven't decided where to plant them yet. But if I put them in the front flower bed I'll still be able to enjoy them in the spring. I'm thinking of going back and getting violas though because they'll come back. My sister planted some in her flower bed and they've returned every year and are beautiful. Pansies will fade away after next spring but violas won't.

Checked out the pansies and looked out the window at the squirrels and neighborhood cats and now...

Think I'll have a seat where mom normally sits. I'm not comfortable unless I sit in her seat. I need to start some basil. My daughter loves it and why buy it if I can keep restarting seeds all winter and we'll have a fresh supply and not have to buy any. But I have some other things to focus on before the freeze arrives like getting the trim on my house painted and trees pruned once the leaves fall from the trees. Then I'll be ready for some seed starting and sit by the fire and settle in for a long winter. I'm waiting for my fire wood to be delivered.
