Christmas In The City

A day for my daughter and I to see some of the Christmas festivities in Center City. My mother took me and my siblings in town often especially at Christmas time to see the Christmas show and at that time Enchanted Village and Scrooge. I kept this tradition with my daughter although we didn't see the Christmas show today at Macy's.

There were 2 holiday markets. One at Dillworth Plaza and the other across the street in Love Park. Christmas Village is my favorite. I like the German crafts and smells and site of the food. There were long lines for some type of heated cheese dish which smelled the air, bratwurst and sauerkraut, roasted nuts, and traditional German dishes. The merry go round was filled as usual as well as the line for Santa. The ice skating rink was being prepared for skaters.

Our Christmas tree in City Hall with a Philadelphia soft pretzel and love symbol. After all, Philly is the City of Brotherly Love.

It was a beautiful cold windy day in town.

On to Reading Terminal to pick up lunch then a Uber home. I would have taken more pictures but my memory card unfortunately was filled.

Back home my amaryllis is in bloom again, the second flower stalk.

And Paper white Wintersun started opening over night. The blooms are supposed to be mixed with yellow but I don't see that much yet. I guess it's the small yellow center. I'll see what they look like tomorrow. This is only their first day open. They have a sweet pleasant smell different from other paper whites I've had. I'll buy them again.

The beheaded white amaryllis besides the red. I'll cut off the stalk soon as another is starting to emerge.

What did I buy?

Carolina Reaper Hot Sauce for my brother. He loves the hottest sauce.

Toy candy my sister's request. Did you eat that as a child? The Reading Terminal has a candy shop that sales all the old fashioned candy people ate as children.

For me. A hand made wool sweater.

With the name of the person who knitted it. Didn't get to buy blown glass Christmas ornaments due to long lines but there's still next year God willing.
